III. ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT

Argentina’s economy experienced impressive rates of economic
growth over the last three years. Gross domestic
product (GDP) grew by 8.8% in 2003, 9.0% in 2004 and
9.2% in 2005. However, the acceleration in growth is expected
to slow down in 2006 and 2007. Current forecast
projects growth of 7.8% in 2006 and 5.5% in 2007. The
accelerated growth rates following the 2001-2002 economic
crisis were driven by expansion in private consumption,
investments and exports.
