IV. MARKET DYNAMICS

The bulk of Argentina’s IT and BPO activity is concentrated
in Pampeana province where Buenos Aires, Cordoba and
Santa Fe (Rosario) are the dominant cities. The three cities
generate over 90% of Argentina’s contact center growth.
Agent density is 54% in Buenos Aires and this is in sharp
contrast to 28% and 12% in Cordoba and Rosario respectively.
Higher rates of per-capita agent growth are predicted
for Cordoba in 2007, which has one-tenth the total population
density of Buenos Aires. In the case of Rosario efforts
are being made to position the city’s five contact centers as
an expansion location for companies with existing operations
in Buenos Aires and Cordoba. Also of major interest
is the southernmost province of Tierra del Fuego that has
attracted IT related factories since the 1970s. A total of
17 IT related factories operate in the region and some 37
local and foreign electronics manufacturers are reported to
be investing US$150 million in new operations. Despite
strong IT factory presence there are no contract center
BPO companies serving international markets.
